WHERE IS THE CHURCH?!

All Saints' Episcopal Church is located at 1350 Waller Street, San Francisco, CA 94117 in the heart of the historic Haight/Ashbury District.  It is located three doors right off Masonic on Waller Street.  Waller Street is one block above Haight.   If you are coming in from the City via the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge, you turn right onto the Golden Gate Bridge Exit, which is called the Central Freeway, and go to the end of the freeway which is called the Octavia/Fell Street exit. 

Travel Four blocks on the new (December 2005) Octavia Boulevard staying in the left lane.  At Fell Street (or the end of Octavia at this point) turn left onto Fell.   Take Fell Street, which is one way, to Masonic and turn left off Fell and travel four fairly long blocks to Waller, which is one street above Haight, and turn right.  The Church Building  is the third structure from the corner of this residential Victorian style neighborhood.

• If you are coming from Marin County,  there are numerous routes.  The one given here is just a suggestion and may not be shortest.  After you have left the Golden Gate bridge, proceed on Doyle Drive and exit right at the Downtown Exit.  You are now on Lombard Street, take Lombard to Gough Street and turn right. Gough is the third street West of Van Ness Avenue.  Proceed about 1.5 miles on Gough up over the hills until you reach Fell Street.  You will be in the City Hall neighborhood.  Get in the far right lane and turn right (West) onto one way Fell  and follow the directions above concerning Fell street. 

• If you are coming from the South Bay/Peninsula exit off 101 at the Civic Center exit and proceed to the Octavia/Fell Street Exit.  If you coming from the Peninsula on 280 North, the route is very obtuse and you should consult a map.  Remember San Francisco is a City of  hills and streets patterns are highly irregular. 

Church Parking:  Street Parking is somewhat limited, as is all parking in the City.   However, the Church has leased  from the French School,  (Lycée Francais),  their playground/parking lot for Sunday services.  The parking lot is located on Asbury Street above Waller approximately one-quarter of a block (there is no address to it) .  The narrowed entrance wire-styled gate opens at 9:00am and closes at 1:00pm.   There is room for about 20 cars in the back. 

If you live in the City:  From downtown head West on Fell  and turn left on Masonic and travel four fairly long blocks to Waller and turn right.  Two maps from MapQuest.com are provided in smaller and enlarged scale by clicking on the picture links below. SUGGESTED ROUTES FOR STREET FAIRS AND RACES.

Suggested Route for Driving when there is a Street Fair or Race.   It is best to approach the Church from above.  Fell Street is normally blocked for miles for a race.  Here is one suggested route if you live in the City.  Drive to 17th Street and Market, which is just above Castro,  and turn right and on 17th Street go all the way up the hill to Clayton and turn right.  At the first intersection, which is Ashbury Street, you will bend right and go all the way down the hill to Waller and turn right.  The Church is in that block.   San Francisco is a complex city when it comes to layout, so there are other ways of doing the same thing.  This is just one suggestion.

Coming in from South Bay and East Bay, you should go onto Interstate 280 and get off at Monterey Avenue.   Immediately make a sharp right turn onto a service road which merges into Diamond in about one-half block.  Go the bottom of the small hill and turn left at the Glen Park BART Station onto O'Shaughnessy and drive all the way up the hill to Upper Market and turn right.  (about one-half mile)  Go down Upper Market to the third stoplight and get into the left hand turn lane and turn left onto Clayton.   Wind up the hill to 17th street and get into the right lane and continue on Clayton until the first intersection after 17th Street.  Bend right onto Ashbury and go down the hill to Waller.  Turn right onto Waller, the church is in that block.
