A Prayer by Saint Cyprian of Carthage |
|
"Holy, holy, holy, Most Holy One, our fathers' Father, God of Abraham, God of Isaac, God of Jacob, God of the apostles, God of the prophets, God of virgins, God of those who live as they ought to live, God of those who believe, God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. . . Grant, we pray, that we may make progress in the spiritual life, that holy desire may increase in us and that we may be sound of heart; for souls reborn in the bath that brings salvation ought to stay immune from sin, the work of the flesh. We ask that there may be no stain on our faith, no perversity in our minds, no weakness in our devotion, no relaxation in our pursuit of good works or in our love. Rather, may we be strong members of Thy holy Church." |

In the spring of 1997, All Saints joined in a unique Partnership in Ministry with St. Cyprian's Episcopal Mission, one of San Francisco's historic African-American Episcopal congregations. Through joint worship on major feast days and combined efforts in education, service and fellowship, the two communities are engaged in an on-going, evolving exploration of new models for urban ministry.
MISSION STATEMENT OF THE
ST.
CYPRIAN'S/ALL SAINTS
JOINT PLANNING
COMMITTEE
- To share the gifts, resources and expertise already present in our two congregations by joining together for common fellowship, worship, instruction and service, thereby giving practical form to the unity that is ours in Christ Jesus;
- To discover new models for church life and urban ministry through this process of sharing and to prayerfully open ourselves to as yet undiscerned possibilities for service and spiritual nurture;
- To celebrate both what is already ours and what we trust God has in store for us; and
- To offer the fruits of this evolving process to the larger church as a model for renewed urban parish life,
- In all these things seeking to deepen that mutual love which Jesus taught was the mark and sign of his Church in the world --
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. (John 13:35).
