Since
1997, All Saints joined in a unique Partnership in Ministry with
St. Cyprian's
Episcopal Church, one of San Francisco's historic African-American Episcopal
congregations. Through joint worship on major feast days and combined efforts in
education, service and fellowship, the two communities are engaged in an
on-going, evolving exploration of new models for urban ministry.
MISSION STATEMENT OF THE ST. CYPRIAN'S/ALL SAINTS
JOINT
PLANNING COMMITTEE
Recognizing both our uniqueness as individual congregations and our common bond as Christians and Episcopalians.
Affirming both our diversity--racial, cultural, orientational and theological--and our fundamental oneness in Christ,
Acknowledging that the situation of the smaller urban parish at the close of this millennium challenges the Church to create new, more effective forms of community life and ministry.
We, the members of the St. Cyprian's and All Saints' Joint Planning Committee, on behalf of our respective congregations, define our mission as follows:
To share the gifts, resources and expertise already present in our two congregations by joining together for common fellowship, worship, instruction and service, thereby giving practical form to the unity that is ours in Christ Jesus.
To discover new models for church life and urban ministry through this process of sharing and to prayerfully open ourselves to as yet un-discerned possibilities for service and spiritual nurture.
To celebrate both what is already ours and what we trust God has in store for us; and
To offer the fruits of this evolving process to the larger church as a model for renewed urban parish life.
In all these things seeking to deepen that mutual love which Jesus taught was the mark and sign of his Church in the world -- By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. (John 13:35).
