
In
the year 2000, the United Nations has set the year 2015 as the target
date for achieving progress in the 8 Millennium Development Goals. The
national Episcopal Church has joined with the
United Nations in raising
awareness about and funding for the Millennium Development Goals
(MDG). All Saints and Episcopal Parishes across the country and each
contributing to progress on the Millennium Development Goals. The
suggested contribution is .7% of a Church's annual operating budget.
Recently, All Saints Episcopal Church, in answer to the tragic
earthquake in Haiti, used both its Millennium Development funds and
other donations to send nearly $4000 to the Episcopal Church's Relief
Fund. Haiti has a special place in the Episcopal Church as its Diocese
is the largest diocese Episcopal Church USA. It has more than 400,000
members.
All
Saints commitment to those in need will continue. In the future, the
Church will continue to seek out avenues to help, both through its
Millennium Development Goals and other charitable channels.
